The gaps

What a record leaves out

A record is a selection from the past, shown in a form the provider and the platform chose. This page collects what the public pages read on 6 November 2026 say it leaves out, and closes with what the Securities and Exchange Commission of Nigeria has said in public about promoted returns.

Five things the pages are silent on

How a strategy changed over time: the help pages show a creation date and charts, and say nothing of a change of style or size. How long a recovery took after a fall: the equity chart in the application would show it, and the public cards do not. Whether the money was real: an icon in the application says so, and the card data does not. The fills a follower got: they are inside accounts. And what happened to strategies that stopped: the list does not carry them.

What a record does not carry

A list of things a reader may assume a record covers, and what the pages read say about each. Sources: the front page and help pages of cTrader Copy, read on 6 November 2026.

The assumptionWhat the pages say
The printed return is what a copier gotIt is measured on the provider's balance at the start of a period the card does not state; copiers' fees are not part of it.
The provider's prices are the follower's pricesProvider and investor prices may differ because of trading conditions and execution time. No figure is printed.
Every provider trade is copiedNot when funds, the instrument or margin are missing; stocks and shares are never copied; volumes are adjusted to the broker's step.
The strategy is still the same oneThe pages read give no history of changes of style, size or symbols; fees can change only after the strategy is stopped and has no investors.
The list shows all strategiesIt shows strategies whose providers are currently trading.
The money was realA live or demo mark exists in the application; the card data read has none.

The front page's own warning

The symbol pages of cTrader Copy carry the sentence "Past performance does not guarantee future results", and the front page states that copy trading involves significant risk and may not be suitable for all users, that cTrader Store is not a broker, and that strategies are provided by third parties. Those sentences are on the same pages as the cards with the large figures.

What the platform does not do

The help pages describe a ranking method for the strategy list, called Rank, which weighs recent return, trading days, drawdown, the number of live investors and fees among other things. The weights are not printed. This site did not use that ranking and read the cards by creation date. A reader who sees a strategy near the top of a list has seen the result of a rule that is not given on the pages read.

What SEC Nigeria has said in public

On 14 May 2026 the Securities and Exchange Commission of Nigeria published a notice on unregistered online investment schemes promoted on social media, advising the public to refrain from any platform "promising unrealistic or guaranteed returns". On 19 October 2018 it had published one on online retail forex trading, saying participation in it is "at his or her own risk" until a framework is developed. The addresses are https://www.sec.gov.ng/for-investors/keep-track-of-circulars/public-notice-unregistered-online-investment-schemes/ and https://sec.gov.ng/for-investors/keep-track-of-circulars/public-notice-online-retail-foreign-exchange-forex-trading/. Neither notice mentions copy trading, and this site found no SEC Nigeria page on copy trading in what it read. That is a gap in what was read, not a finding about the regulator.

For a skeptic the use of the notices is limited. They do not say a given provider is registered or not. They say how the Commission regards promotion by people it has not registered, and where it asks the public to check.

What to do with a record, then

Treat it as a claim with a date on it. Ask which account type, which period, which symbols and which fees; ask whether the figure includes what a follower pays. Ask whether the person presenting it is registered, and check the exact legal name where the notice says to. The answers to the first questions are inside the application, and some may not be given at all. That absence is itself information about the record.

Questions about reading a record

Is a past return a guide to the next one?

The platform's own symbol pages say past performance does not guarantee future results.

Does the record show changes of style?

Not on the public pages read. They show a creation date and charts.

Does SEC Nigeria say anything about copy trading?

Not on the pages this site read. Its 2018 and 2026 notices are about online retail forex and unregistered online schemes.

Does the Rank on the strategy list measure quality?

It is a proprietary method combining several parameters, and the weights are not printed on the pages read.
